Ok, I said I'd post a link to the advert-style anim... so here it is:
http://www.thymox.uklinux.net/Animation1.gif

Now, I am definitely no artist, so it is [i]really[/i[ rough. I'll explain the idea behind it (for some reason it doesn't always display properly in anything other than IE... shortcomings of animated gif I suppose...?).

A Tux penguin.
He has a question (though bubble rising... '?' mark appears).
Thought bubble bursts as Tux says 'LQ' in speach bubble.
Speach bubble fades.
LQ in speach bubble shifts over to position in current LQ logo and expands to become the current LQ logo (left-->right sweep).
Now, my original story-board design stopped here, but as you may (or may not) see, I've added the 'Where Linux Newbies Come For Help' slogan as well.

If anyone thinks that they could do a decent anim either along these lines, or along their own storyboard, then I'd love to hear about it! More than anything, I was hoping to use my anim as advertising on my own site (subject to t+c with isp)... but then discovered that I sucked at art more than I orignally thought!

Cheers muchly,

--Grant

oh presumably the Q is an O and an l?or a Q with a cleverly place extra little L.... hmm, not won over by that yet...

Here's a few more to add to the collection, from a real newbie's perspective. ;-)

There's something to be said about the elegance of simplicity so that is what I've tried to keep alive here.

http://www.geocities.com/lunadoci/New_Logo_1.html
http://www.geocities.com/lunadoci/New_Logo_2.html
http://www.geocities.com/lunadoci/New_Logo_3.html

Got a few more ideas I'll try to submit within the next day or so.

Great idea by the way! Bringing a new design logo in this way captures beautifully what Linux itself is all about.

Thanks!

Hey there buddy, I continue to get the "This page is not available" "If you are the author, please contact <blank>" everytime I try to click your links. I am guessing it's just me though, any ideas?

Here's a screen capture, make sure it's the capture, since the capture is of a "page not available", not that you are recieving "page not availabe" as well
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...a.jpg.orig.jpg

If that doesn't work:

MasterC,
geocities will not let you link directly to a graphic from another site. Copy the URL and paste it into another window and it will work.

personally i don't think you should depart from the classic tux logo. i think there are too many imposter penguins out there already.

personally i like :

http://www.butterchump.com/LinuxQuestions2.gif
and
http://www.jontopia.com/lq/lq2.gif

with the close runners up being:
http://www.thymox.uklinux.net/NewLQL...bber-WNCFH.png

http://gtinc.home7.dk3.com/linux_questions3.jpg

http://www.jontopia.com/lq/lq.gif

just my prefs...
