Except for one religious commandment, obviously:
Speaking personally, I also think that the F&R-MT is great fun! I appreciate the fact that the "mods" have permitted it to happen.
This being the way I tend to think but I do worry whether a "ban" or similar is too much. I just find it irrelevant when somebody posts on a thread about help with the technicalities of an OS and the post is about religion (or, indeed, if it were an attempt to "chat them up" or anything else like that).
And you complain about the signatures others use? Another person pleading in his or her signature for other members to increase his or her reputation. If reputation is important to you and you want it to increase it, make helpful posts. Begging for reputation makes the people who do it look bad and annoys many others. And who are you to demand anyone else gets counted? Proselytising the religion of Linux is no different than proselytising the religion of Christianity or the religion of nationalism. It is time to pull your head out of your hypocritical behind and try to live peacefully with others.
I only highlighted 1 sig. Did you see the "someone" part in my sig? It does not only refer to me. Try and pay more attention. No begging here -- you do presume a lot. I'm not demanding people get counted (you took it wrong) -- merely giving the link which helps in the uptake of the OS and gives folk the opportunity to be counted. Comparing the so called "religion of Linux" to christianity - seriously? -- what a joke! The last line of your comment was well uncalled for. Try to be civil.
I say (we call it capitalism so) Mount Rushmore's, GW could use a Nike cap. Slogan could read: "Ju$t Blew It"? Punningly... but seriously we own parks more than the web in it entirety.

1) "Get counted!" Bold, underlined and a different colour. Such aggressive advertising looks much more like a demand than a suggestion. If someone were to advertise a religious link with the same in-your-face approach, you would be frothing in righteous indignation.
2) A link to anything that provides an opportunity for people to see something and make up their own minds about it is a link to something not related to the thread. The problem is, you only want to see links to things you agree with.

So putting the word "someone" in the plea means you are not included? You are the one who needs to pay more attention. When people see "If you find a/this post helpful ..." do you not think they will see the plea as including you or referring solely to you? Or do you also get offended when misguided people cannot read your mind after you use the language poorly?

Yes, seriously. It is difficult for believers of religions like nationalism and Linux fanboys who proselytise the glory of the divine OS to recognise that their religions are religions, because the things being worshipped are not deities.

Be less intolerant; stop being offended when someone believes something different than what believe; stop whining and complaining about minutia; drop the holier than though attitude; stop telling everyone else what the should not do ...
and people will not find you annoying.

I am not sure who that is more offensive to, Linux advocates or followers of the world's religions. Really, no, being somebody who is p[leased with how an operating system performs and wants to help others use it is not the same as somebody who believes something completely unprovable and thinks that others should believe in the same thing even if the reason they believe this is because they think that belief is helpful (hint: It's possible to take on the "morals" or other aspects of religious observance without actually believing in that religion). No, sorry this is a reductive argument and serves no purpose other than to suggest that religious people cannot separate their belief in a god and other supernatural things from their general; behaviour.
To post more on topic -- this is a Linux forum! There may be people for whom Linux is actually a religion (my points above aside) but then this is a Linux forum. Oh, did I forget something, this is not a Christian forum it is a Linux forum. By all means debate religion on threads such as this (though I even find that a stretch) or others including religion but to post about religion on a thread asking for technical help is not relevant.

Don't be such a dolt -- it's underlined and a different color because it's a hyper-link. Go on the Linux Counter website -- it has 'Get counted' also. Take the text the wrong way and get butt-hurt by all means.
You do realise this is a Linux forum and not a place for religious indoctrination right?
Don't be ridiculous -- obviously "someone" includes everyone who helps out.
Linux actually exists unlike your fairy tale sky daddies.
I am very tolerant on the whole. I am not offended by differing views. I never whined -- you construed that. It's you who complain about minutia (like bringing up the pathetic "someone" detail). You're saying I have a 'holier than though attitude' -- oh the irony!
Highlighting 1 sig does not equate to "telling everyone else what they should not do". Oh, so I must only post things you fully agree with else you and your pals get annoyed?
