quick reply box is huge! Not sure if it's a bug or a feature, lol.<snip>
I think it's just fine. The old box was too small anyway.. <snip>
Agreed. I like the larger (but not too large) box. I use that most often anyway.
I don't think this is related to the upgrade because I think it's been like this for awhile, but since I'm here: it seems like you used to be able to nest quotes and now parent quotes get stripped when you quote child posts. For instance, I had to do the above by quoting both posts, copying, pasting, and nesting the [quote] tags. This isn't important here and is just an example, but the idea reminded me of it, where it can be important on some threads.
Yes I have been noticing improvements and changes to the site. Only problem was that domain name mismatch thing... I haven't had that error for awhile and it seems to happen a some other websites. Google must be having some problems.
I'm glad to see that "log out" button near "Welcome, pusrob". It is quite useful there, because now, I don't need to go to home, and than press log out there. Thanks!
EDIT: And that annoying error message is gone too. Nice
One question here: Why do I need to log out twice to make "Welcome, pusrob" disappear. I mean, when I press the log out button, a new page comes in, and it sais, that all cookies cleard, but it looks like, I'm still logged in. If I press the log out again, the login section comes, as needed. Interesting.
EDIT: I made a test. Well, it appears, that I'm logged out for the first time, but the welcome thing is still there, and the "quick links" menu is there too, but it doesn't work (because I'm logged out). "My LQ" is not there.
I know its not an important thing, so if you don't have time for fixing this, its not a problem.
Well, I don't know if a configuration problem on my part, or a new "feature," but none of the icons at the top of the message window have any action attached to them for me. I'm running FF 2.0.0.5 on Fedora 7.
When I look at the source code I see things like this:
<td><div class="imagebutton" id="vB_Editor_QR_cmd_bold"><img src="http://linuxquestions.cachefly.net/images/questions/images/editor/bold.gif" width="21" height="20" alt="Bold" ></div></td>
<td><div class="imagebutton" id="vB_Editor_QR_cmd_italic"><img src="http://linuxquestions.cachefly.net/images/questions/images/editor/italic.gif" width="21" height="20" alt="Italic" ></div></td>
Note that the <div statement in improperly terminated with a > instead of a />, but the main thing is that there seems to be nothing there as an action.
Also, doesn't VB stand for "Visual Basic," a propitiatory Microsoft product?
I thought with HTML, it was correct to finish tags that have no ending tag with a />, like <img ../>, <br />, and tags that have a corresponding end tag are ok to end the first one with just a >, like <html></html>, <p></p> etc.
the buttons should do something though... do you have scripts enabled?
Jeremy, I have noticed something with the post count thing.
A few days ago I added a post, and checked the post count, and it was 241. In the past days I added some other posts, but the count is still 241. How is it possible? I added a post 2 minutes ago, and its still 241. Its not a big problem, but maybe it is a code error or something. Just leaving you a notification.
Its interesting. Very interesting. The above post added 1 to the count. Now its 242. I don't understand how does it work. Really. Maybe there is no error, but a kind of special rule for the count...
I guess there will be a 243, when I add this post...

. . .

It's 3 years since I got the 2nd edition of Larry Ullman's PHP for the World Wide Web (Peachpit Press 2004). On page 2 there is a nice explanation of the difference between HTML & the newer XHTML. The 1st 2 paragraphs of the Relationship_to_HTML section in the Wikipedia article on XHTML explain the applicable differences well.
AFAIC see, the quoted "<div ...>" tags are correct in both HTML & XHTML: lower case, nested, properly terminated (w/ "</div>").
Using " />" to terminate a tag only applies in XHTML, & only to singleton elements -- i.e. "<br>" must become "<br />" to be correct XHTML. "<div>" & "<td>" & all the others that have both an open & a close don't change in XHTML.

Yes, it was the <img bit that didn't have the /> terminator.
As to "scripts enabled," the Java Script stuff works with no problem, but none of the VB stuff seems to be included. I searched the code for any other reference to the id="..." referent and did not find it, so the action, for me, is missing.
I suspect that it may be that, for some reason, there inclusion of the VB code has been blocked on my system. I am running "adblock," but the only blocked item I see is "pagead2.googlesyndication.com" which would not, I assume, contain any code.
