LQ Code Upgrade
The LQ code upgrade has been officially scheduled. From the announcement.
Quote:
On Saturday December 3rd LinuxQuestions.org will be undergoing a much anticipated code upgrade. Nearly every section of the site will be impacted. The upgrade itself will require us to bring down the entire site while the upgrade is being performed. This means that ALL sections of the site will be down. Additional sites such as the LQ Wiki, LQ ISO and LQ Radio will not be impacted. We will keep you updated on the status of the upgrade on this wiki page. The expected scheduled downtime is 7am-11:59am LQST (also known as EST). If you have any questions or comments, you can post them in this thread. Thanks.
Schweet. Having been involved in a major update like this myself, I wish you the best of luck as it's so easy to find the smallest incompatibilities between the production and staging servers just after you upload
Distribution: Mandriva mostly, vector 5.1, tried many.Suse gone from HD because bad Novell/Zinblows agreement

Cosmetic and aesthetic changes will be the most obvious changes. But let's not jump the gun - it is a complete makeover and will be released in less than a week.

EclipseAgent, there is almost nothing that hasn't changed. We've redone the forums, the HCL, reviews, LinuxAnswers...we even rewrote the press section. In addition we've added multiple completely new sections and a variety of new feature will be in the existing sections.

FWIW, as of today all "open" bugs for the beta have been closed so we are well on our way. On the 3rd we'll certainly be looking for as many people as possible to be on the boards looking for bugs and testing the new features. If you'll be around at about noon LQST and would like to help, make sure to stop by. We also already have an nice feature list that will be rolled out shortly after the initial release. One good thing about the upgraded code is that is gives us a little better framework to work off of...
