duuuuuh, i'm sorry. The command I intended to type was: ifconfig
I even typed the command on my RH box before posting, cause I continue to get the ipconfig / ifconfig commands switched.
sorry for the lame post.

WHOA!

I tried typing all the options into rdesktop first, and tried KDEs thing, tried this and that etc. and nothing worked. I was looking up how to access windows shares and installing samba and all this stuff, then I saw your post and just tried rdesktop 192.168.1.200 and it works! woo hoo! i never have to open up my old laptop again. it is just going to sit on my shelf downloading things for me. :-)

also i figured out the other options from there:

rdesktop 192.168.1.200 -g 1280x900 -a 16

only problem is the damn old computer keeps thinking it's time for bed and sleeping on me. grrr.
