Post Problem while installing WLAN Lucent Orinoco Silver card on linux kernel 2.4.20

Hi All,

I am trying to install Lucent Orinoco Silver card on linux 2.4.20. I have installed PCMCIA package and disabled the linux kernel for PCMCIA. Also installed the prism2_cs driver for the same. If i boot my terminal i get following messages in var log!!!

Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server kernel: ident: nic h/w: id=0x01 4.0.1
Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server kernel: ident: pri f/w: id=0x15 4.0.1
Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server kernel: ident: sta f/w: id=0x1f 6.6.1
Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server kernel: MFI:SUP:role=0x00:id=0x01:var=0x01:b/t=3/3
Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server kernel: CFI:SUP:role=0x00:id=0x02:var=0x01:b/t=5/5

Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server kernel: PRI-CFI:ACT:role=0x01:id=0x02:var=0x01:b/t=1/5
Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server kernel: STA-CFI:ACT:role=0x01:id=0x02:var=0x01:b/t=1/5
Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server kernel: prism2sta_getcardinfo: Failed to retrieve STA_MFIACTRANGES
Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server kernel: prism2sta_getcardinfo: Failed, result=-61
Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server kernel: prism2sta_ifstate: prism2sta_getcardinfo() failed,result=-61
Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server cardmgr[739]: + Failed to enable the device, resultcode= implementation_failure .
Sep 12 12:34:14 VoIP-Server cardmgr[739]: start cmd exited with status 1

If I check for the ifconfig -a i get thee interfaces up as
eth0
lo
wlan0

But it identfies wlan0 as ethernet link. Also it can't show any info related to card.

iwconfig shows that the wlan0 is not a wireless extention.

Whether i am having problem with the driver as it says the implementation failure?????
Kindly let me know if u know more baout it

Regards
Wabi

Hi All,
There is addition to my question!!! Now i installed PCMCIA
package correctly. Now when i rebooted my system, and lsmod shows that pcmcia_core module, Prism2_cs driver module are loaded. When i do ifconfig -a again i can see lo, eth0 and wlan0 interfaces. but wlan interface showa as ethernet interface and don't show any other info. When i do iwconfig i get that wlan0 is no wireless extention. Now when i see the /var/log/messages i find that the get_cardinfo fails to get the card details???
I doubt whether i am using correct driver ???
So the condition is same as that of having PCMCIA support from the kernel. Only change in this case is the card is not getting dectected at run time by the PCMCIA package it only recongnize it at boot up time.

If anyone is having any solition to this kindly let me know.

Thanks and regards
Wabi
