Question X doesn't start after hoary-2-breezy update

I updated hoary to breezy through internet. I modified my sources.list file so that instead of saying hoary, it said breezy, apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade and a few hours later, I was on breezy. :-)

Even my self-compiled rt2500 module worked without a problem.. (or is it that the new kernel comes with support for it???) :-)

But X doesn't want to start. The log says
Code:
Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed';
blah
blah
I remember I tried to add fonts to hoary, but I don't think i was so successful... but maybe that was the problem, that i busted something. Is there an easy step I can make to bring X back?

I think you need to install some fonts:
Code:
xfonts-75dpi
xfonts-100dpi
xfonts-base
xfonts-scalable
You may need other things too. On debian you can just do:
Code:
apt-get install x-window-system
and it will install everything you need for x
probably the same for ubuntu

All four font packages you named were already installed.
But I tried x-window-system and it says that the x-window-system is not available but other packages reference it.

i think I'll be going to the ubuntu forum to check if they can answer this. :-(

Just edit the xorg.conf file and replace the /usr/X11R6/lib/fonts directories for /usr/share/X11/fonts in the FontPaths. That should do. Hope it works for you!
