Hi, umm.. I Just finished installing ReDHat 9.0 and I immediatly wanted to install my favourite game Ultima Online:Age of Shadows but when I entered it into my CD tray hoping for a installer to pop up.. Nothing happened I knew obviously this was going to happen because it is a windows game now this is where my problem is i'm sure by know you already know what im going to ask....
How do I install Ultima Online:Age of Shadows on Redhat (By the way I play freeservers if it is any help?) I read somthong on a site that said to copy it from your Windows to your linux but I don't have a dual boot and I don't intend on going back to window's EVER AGAIN.
(Very, Bad Experiance...)
Please if you could help me I'd be extremely grateful
Oh and I'm a complete newbie to linux so when your explaining things to me imagine you were explaining it to a 5 year old child :P
wineX is free through CVS right now... other than that its like 15$... wine is free though
try the ultima linux clients suggested by th1nk3r first though, they are suppose to work
Cool Thanks... But umm now how do I install UO (ultima online)
I downloaded wine well the first file didnt think I needed the others but it said it was installing the package but now I can't find anything..
Bare with me ive been using windows for the most 15 years of my life today is the first day I have used linux!
umm.. im still having problems I can't get the cd to run i wan aplay my UO !
ill tryed redling it bstill doesnt run hmm ill try again please heeeeeelp!
Ergh... LIsten I have no money I can't afford to buy anything plus I have no credit card so I can't purchase anything online.. so we can eliminate that option unless you feel like paying for it! or you tell me if I can get it for free someone said somthing about it is free over CVS But not really sure what that means..
You seem really new to linux, not knowing about cvs is kinda a phun killer in linux. Anyway, to the point. The links above should provide you enough information to get your Ultima online client working. The second link is just the client and readme. It is very brief but if you know a little about linux you should have no problems getting everything going.
That is something to try.
I havent played Ultima online in linux before, I am just offering information on that which is on the internet.
The other option which I would try would be Wine.
I dont believe you would need winex to run it. I would first uninstall the version on redhat already using "rpm -e wine" in command prompt and "rpm -e Wine" then download this:
and change to the directory and type "rpmbuild --rebuild "thefilename"" and the it will say the files created usually in the /usr/src/RPMS/i386/ directory rpm -ihv "filename" to install the built rpms.
Google is my favorite tool for finding information to correct problems.
