success story plus a question

Hi.. I finally deleted my windowsXP partition; it was like cutting an umbilical cord! I feel so free now. I am on Linux 24-7 now and I am totally addicted!!

Being that there is so much free software for linux I am having a hard time finding the ones I like. I am looking for a GUI ftp client. I totally hate gftp. I downloaded IglooFtp and dig it, but it is shareware . Can someone recommend me an good (configureable) ftp client.

Also freshmeat.net and sourceforge are great!! is there a way to browse software so that I can see which is the most popular or has been downloaded the most? can you give me links to other popular download sites?

It's saturday and I am not going to go out tonight! i am going to spend it here with my box! it's like having a new computer (cough.. girlfriend)..yes I'm a geek..

I don't know why you don't like gftp - I use either that or the cli.

As for the most popular software then take a look at the left hand side of sourceforge.net

I just use gftp but I only upload measly webpages so it is fine for me.
A buddy of mine spent time trying out a bunch of different ones and he found the same thing - they all uploaded slow as hell.
Have you thought about running something thru wine?

That sounds much more like a network issue than the clietns fault.
