To import contacts (address books) into KMail from Thunderbird:
In Thunderbird, go to Tools>Address Book

The address book will open in a new window. Choose the book you want to export (ie "Personal...", "Collected Addresses", etc). Then select Tools>Export..., and choose a location to save the address book.

Now go to KMail, Tools>Address Book

Now go to File>Import>Import LDIF Address Book, then find the .ldif file you exported from Thunderbird
