I can't install Minimal Ubuntu?

A few days ago I tried to install Ubuntu 11.04 minimal CD 64 bit PC (amd64, x86_64), from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...tion/MinimalCD, but couldn't. The reason is that none of the Ubuntu mirrors were accepted. I don't know if the problem is that the laptop isn't 64-bit, I'll list the specs, or what and I don't want to burned another disk without advice on what to do, so please reply.

The laptop's specs are:

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55 (2 CPUs), ~1.8GHz
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.101014-0432)
System Model: HP Pavilion dv6500 Notebook PC
BIOS: PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.1

Hi!
If your Windows is 64 bit, than you have the answer, but if your Windows is 32 bit, the architecture could be 32 as well as 64 bit.

All AMD Athlon 64 CPUs are, as their name also states, are 64 bit capable. So your problem is not related to that.
What do you mean with "Ubuntu mirrors not accepted"? Did you get an error-message?

Are you connected to the internet with a wired connection?

This is the error:
Code:
Ubuntu archive mirror country

And error has been detected while trying to use the specified Ubuntu
archive mirror.

Possible reasons for the error are: incorrect manner specified; mirror
is not available (possibly due to an unreliable network connection);
mirror is broken (for example because an invalid to Release file was
found); mirror does not support the correct Ubuntu version.
I've tried many countrys' mirrors and they don't work either.

I meant to run that command after starting the installer and going through it to the point where you get the messages. Change to a different virtual terminal (for example with Alt+F2) and launch that command there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you meant that I should go to where I get the message and press Alt+F2, to run the command. I did that and got:
Code:
/bin/sh: sudo: not found
By the way, how do I get out of the Council, I typed help and then exit only to can't get:
Code:
Please press Enter to activate this consul.

I forgot that you are logged in as root when running the installer. Try it without the sudo.
To get back to the installer just press Alt+F1.

You should consider installing a free virtual machine. I think it would be a better choice. Many sources for pre-made virtual machines so you don't even have to install it. Just double click in Vista and in a few seconds you have linux.

I get the feeling you have a router that is blocking ports maybe. A minimal cd or floppy should connect. On situation where it has never been fixed is with systems that use a proxy.pac file.
