how to change email default in mdk

I am using Thunderbird and firefox, because I prefer there customisation, what I want to be able to do it set both as the default email/browser defaults on my box (mdk 10oe) then I want to set the default in a hacked version of Linspires Lphoto so the email client is thunderbird no moz messanger, I have had a play around but no luck to date. Any clues where to start?

What desktop are you using? If it's Gnome run gnome-default-applications-properties and set the Web Browser and Mail Reader of your choice. Don't forget to put %s at the end.

I found the extension changes in konqueror, but only HTML, I am a little lost.
