gnome main menu behaviour (menu follows mouse)

Hi,

In the older versions of gnome a nice feature was enabled by default.
When I pressed the <Mod4> (windows) key the main gnome-menu popped up at the location where my mouse is (menu follows mouse)

In the newer version (my distro has Gnome v2.8 ) this feature has now been disabled by default and the menu always pops up at the standard location of the button (here on the upper-left section) of the panel.
How can I explicitly enable the previous behaviour, where the main-menu follows the mouse?

TIA

If the feature is still there and just disabled, try looking through the Configuration Editor; use google to determine the value you want to change to enable the feature. If you cannot find it there, it's quite possible that the whole feature is removed from Gnome as it's seen unusable. Good luck for the search

Hi b0uncer

I had already looked in the config editor but didn't find the correct variable. My initial google searches did't turn up anything usefull and in the gnome-help forum nobody replied to my question. This is in fact the only place where someone gave me some pointers on where to look.
I'll use google's linux database again for answers and will post when I've got success. Hopefully the option wasn't removed, otherwise I'll need to seek the help of coders to get it patched back in :!:
Has the Gnome devel team removed other options before, or did they just hide them?

I detest rigid menus, they should always follow my mouse, just as it's on my Amiga computer, in BlackBox, FluxBox and in KDE.

Thanks for your response
