To make a long story short, I'm trying to get Lotus Domino 6.5 running under Fedora Pre-3. However, I have two issues I have yet to overcome.
1. SMTP hangs when I shutdown Domino.
2. loading the http task (load http) causes an instant crash.
Yes, I realize this isn't a supported environment but I don't think that's stopped any of you from trying to workaround an issue just because it wasn't officially supported.
Your comments? Any ideas?
[edit: I would like to hear about your successes and/or failures while trying to install this under a similar setup. Please contribute your experience.]
Much appreciated,
Jordan.
Well, I'm not sure if anyone else is interested but I'll post some more info here.
The change to NPTL has broken some applications that depend on the old way of doing things. Two of which are the IBM JRE and the Sun JRE... Since I replaced the IBM JRE with the Sun JRE to get it installed, I wouldn't be surprised if this is also the root cause of my problems.
However, the Fedora docs state that we can use the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19 or 2.2.5 to tell the NPTL to act like it's old self - this worked (at least partly) in RH9. However this setting didn't help me with Fedoar Pre-3.... time to try Core 1 to see if it works there - I'm not holding my breath.
I have also had no luck getting Domino 6.5 running on Fredora. I've kept the IBM JRE and not used the Java install or console. This allows you to get the server up and running, but I've had lots of problems with the HTTP task (just seems to keep crashing)
I've had no problems with redhat 7, and 9 (with the obvious environment variable tweaks). Would be interested if anyone else has made it stable.
