Orca keeps crashing every few minutes!

High again folks, I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 with the Orca screen reader for the blind. My problem is, every few minutes, Orca crashes! I've looked at the documentation on the Orca page, and there doesn't seem to be an answer there. Does anyone here know what's going on? Thank you all in advance!

Orca appears to be a Python application. Within GNOME 'bugbuddy' should track error reporting AFAIK. If that doesn't work then sometimes when you start the application from a terminal window it will emit errors to stderr on crash. Else you could check the Orca bug tracker (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cg...roduct%3Aorca+) or their mailing list to see if there's related crashes and fixes for the version you're using.

Thank you very much for the advice! I tried asking the Orca mailing list about it, but no one came back to me. Just quickly glancing at the bug list, it doesn't look like it's been addressed. How would I go about doing the thing you suggested I do first?

Whoever are on that list are doing it for free (as in no steady pay) and in their spare time, so please allow for some time to pass, OK?

If you mean the 'bugbuddy' thing that should be automatic (if that package is installed, that is).
