What the post referred to by beachboy2 means in short is that it is necessary to go into BIOS and ensure legacy/MBR/BIOS (whatever your Dell BIOS names it) is enabled, such that UEFI booting is not the only boot style supported. It should then be possible to boot any distro's installation media in Legacy/MBR/BIOS mode. If you strike F12 during POST, you should get a boot menu that lists your installation media at least twice, once for UEFI booting, the other for legacy/BIOS/MBR boot. Choose legacy and you should be on your way to success.

If you are one who prefers to partition the target media in advance of installation , ensure your target disk is no larger than 2TB, and partition it using MBR mode, not GPT.

The system does have TMP 2.0 if that is active could it block installation? I never have it active on any Linux systems.

Hi all,
I have finally succeeded in installing LXLE on my Latitude E5410, which is BOOTABLE ..... Yeah!!
I remembered reading somewhere that replacing Balena Etcher with Rufus had helped someone esle, who
had a similar problem to mine, i.e. the installation wouldn't boot. After using Rufus to flash the
USB drive the process went tickety-boo.
Thank you all for your help.
...... john

the below is an excerpt from here http://slackware.uk/slackware/slackw...EADME_UEFI.TXT which is part of slackware documentation

If the menu entry doesn't work on your system, you can still force your
machine to boot ELILO automatically by copying the files in /EFI/Slackware on
your EFI System Partition to /EFI/BOOT on your EFI System Partition, and
renaming /EFI/BOOT/elilo.efi to /EFI/BOOT/BOOTX86.EFI. Before doing this,
you might want to back up any existing files in /EFI/BOOT.

The above might be the solution for you issue , it also works for grub. But with the .efi file from grub.
