"destination host unreachable" while pinging server

when i try to ping my raspbian server from my debian computer in the local network i get the "destination host unreachable" error. (the server runs properly, but is reachable neither in the local network, nor beyond.)

i'm looking forward to any responses that help me solve this problem! please bare with me, if i don't understand some technical terms, i'm rather new to linux.

compare the follwoing outputs:

cat /etc/network/interfaces
Code:
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).

source /etc/network/interfaces.d/*

# The loopback network interface

iface lo inet loopback
cat /etc/resolv.conf
Code:
# Generated by NetworkManager

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.

I assume the information posted is from your debian PC and the IP address of the Pi is 192.168.1.101?

Is the Pi's address really 192.168.1.101?

oh yes, your question gave me a hint what else to check!
indeed, it's a manual problem: the router didn't connect to the server – as my cat has bitten through the cable...

thanks for the support!
