Try that way, install WICD, any way - it is much nicer.

WICD installed; version 1.6.1-3ubuntu1. It tells me that I'm connected to Nexus but I'm still unable to connect to the net. What's next?

There's no output when I run route -n because I can't maintain my connection to Nexus. It connects and then a few seconds later, it loses it.

Yes, that's why I'm able to connect. Problem is, I can't stay connected.

There is a log file of WICD in /var/log/wicd/
Can you post it through the pastebin, it is big I suppose.
Thanks.

The problem is:
2009/12/24 20:40:28 :: Generating psk...
2009/12/24 20:40:28 :: WARNING: PSK generation failed! Falling back to wireless key.
That is why you were unable to connect to secured network so far.
If you have a time, try to read about it, search in google.

You know, check if you have:
wpa_passphrase
wpa_passphrase - Generate a WPA PSK from an ASCII passphrase for a SSID
You should have it on Ubuntu.
Try to read man page: "man wpa_passphrase"
If you do not have it, you need to install it.

No, because WICD just shows it to you.

I used my PSK instead of the passphrase. My log (
http://pastebin.com/d6936964b ) says that I'm connected but WICD immediately disconnects. What now?
