What is the root password for the Linux Mint Live DVD?
What is the root password for the Linux Mint 17.3 64-bit Cinnamon Live DVD?
It has one, but I don't know what it is.
My plan is to use the Live DVD to wipe a hard disk.
There should be no password or login on the Live DVD. Generally, this is a bad download or a bad burn or it could be the fact the site was hacked a few days ago. As luck would have it, the onlhy version that appeared to be hacked is the one you downloaded so that might be it. Do an md5 checksum to start with. Read the link below

The live dvd has no users, but you can add an administrator in the sudo group and execute sudo commands.

The md5 checksum is a match. My version predates the hack attack. I tried to do su, but I cannot get it authorized.
But I was able to use sudo after adding an administrator with administrator privileges and that is good enough for me,
I think.
