Thanks cascade for the info on ignore lists. Didn't know about that. I learned something today and have now eliminated one impediment to reading the forum and gathering useful information.
On another note I've been testing Mint 12 now for a few weeks, trying to find a suitable replacement for ubuntu. I like it much better than ubuntu with unity and I think I may very well be making the switch soon. Not so far removed from the old gnome 2, that I find it bothersome and it has a very nice, fresh look to it. Cheers.
My wife is the most beautiful woman in the world, because I say so,
anything wrong?
No, but if someone else had a wife and said she was the most beautiful in the world, would you put him down for being ignorant and biased (just like you do with people who dislike Ubuntu)?
No wise man will make such statements without giving reasons for his opinion.
Call me "not wise". Just because something is used by many people doesn't mean that it has to be good. Ubuntu is buggy and is trying to achieve vendor lock-ins. Instead of bugfixing (like any other distro) the developers concentrate on shiny new features, so that they even release their "stable" LTS versions buggy.
So I will say: No, Ubuntu is not good. Because of a reason.
And since this is a Mint vs Ubuntu thread: Even if Ubuntu were good that doesn't mean that Mint can't be better.
