There is no inconvenience, certainly on my side. You're learning a lot at the moment and that is always a good thing.
Thank you for your patience, hydrurga. I am having fun learning. My Internet is limited so I am waiting for the pages to download to be okayed. Then I will try it!

If your machine is set to boot to the HDD you will have to go into the BIOS and change the boot order to the CD/Rom Drive. Once the boot order is set than you will be able to boot up the LM CD/DVD and proceed with the fresh installation.
Most splash screens (the screen that flashes before your machine boots) shows which key to press to get into the BIOS.
On my laptop it's F2 that I have to press a few times in a row to get into the BIOS.
With my desktop it's the Delete key:-
Good morning. Okay I have downloaded on my USB. I downloaded it from Linux Freedom. But how do I check the integrity of the file? I was looking at the guide but I don't understand where to get it and how to do it? And I haven't found how to get in my BIOS yet. I don't see it when I log in.

I would advise you to download the iso from the official Mint site (https://linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=258). This is wise policy with all distros - get them from the developers' web site. There is a link on that page to "verify your ISO".
Lets see if I understand how to do the ISO check. I make a folder named ISO. I drag my Linux Mint download to this folder. I then drag the two files from the Mint Internet page also into the same folder. Then I run the commands it gives in my Terminal. Is it important where I put this ISO folder?

Sorry for my causing confusion. I downloaded it from a mirror on the Mint website called Linux Freedom. Shall I download another one. Which mirror do you recommend?

Ah, I see.
A quick web search shows that e3b0c44298fc1c149afbf4c8996fb92427ae41e4649b934ca495991b7852b855 is the SHA-256 checksum of an empty bitstring.
Can you please go through the process again, using the iso you downloaded, but this time paste the commands and output here. Many thanks.
