I did a restart, half expecting fstab to report an error somewhere, but it didn't.
At last Mint is booting up and initialising the Data partition of my Windows drive.

The line suggested by hydrurga has made it refer to the partition as "Data". As well as my torrent client, Thunderbird and Libre Office, everything is now referring to the partition correctly.

Yet again I owe thanks to everyone who responded and gave their ideas, especially as a lot of the time I struggle to follow what is being suggested.
Thanks again everyone.

You don't know how happy I was to see this thread marked "Solved" when I came on to the site just now. Thanks for persisting, paxolin, and for treading where you feared to. After a while it will all start making sense - it's just a case of practice and getting used to it.

Have fun!
