using usb wireless kb/mouse in frugal dsl install.

I have an old pII 300 mhz 48ram laptop running dsl installed to hardrive (frugal). I want to be able to plug in a wireless kb/mouse after it boots up and use it. I so far am only able to do that if it is plugged in before the install. once its installed even if i plug it in before bootup it wil not use them. I do understand that its a noob question, but i need help...

also i read somewhere that there is a flavor of linux that does not need mounting of usb or cdrom fs. it does mount and umount automatically. is ther any way to implement this in dsl?

thank you.

can you do a
$ lsmod | grep hci

when the BT does not work and when it works.

I think you might have to load some of the bluetooth modules.

Load these modules one at a time and see if it works.

# Bluetooth device drivers
#
CONFIG_BT_HCIUSB=m
CONFIG_BT_HCIUSB_SCO=y
CONFIG_BT_HCIUART=m
CONFIG_BT_HCIUART_H4=y
CONFIG_BT_HCIUART_BCSP=y
CONFIG_BT_HCIBCM203X=m
CONFIG_BT_HCIBPA10X=m
CONFIG_BT_HCIBFUSB=m
CONFIG_BT_HCIDTL1=m
CONFIG_BT_HCIBT3C=m
CONFIG_BT_HCIBLUECARD=m
CONFIG_BT_HCIBTUART=m
CONFIG_BT_HCIVHCI=m
CONFIG_AF_RXRPC=m
# CONFIG_AF_RXRPC_DEBUG is not set
# CONFIG_RXKAD is not set
CONFIG_FIB_RULES=y

sorry for being unclear. it is a rf wireless mouse not bluetooth. it has a usb plug and it takes care of the wireless as far the os is concerned it is a reg usb mouse I think.

what I am trying to do is have the touchpad on my laptop always work as the mouse (whch it does as ps/2) and the usb mouse work as the mouse if it is there.

btw the mouse is a mouse and kb, and I am able to use both kb if the usb is connected. just like what i want to do with the mouse.

thanks alot
