Urgent! HELP! Problem instaling Linux on a Hp Laptop with a AMD TL-56 Processor.

Hello,
I have been trying to install for several months now Linux distros like Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Suse on my new HP laptop that uses a AMD turion TL-56 processor.
From what I have gathered though extensive research is that there is an incompatibility issue with the Linux kernel.
When I try to install Ubuntu or Kubunto it tries to go to the live cd feature but somewhere along the way it freezes…

Has anyone successfully installed Linux on a dual core AMD laptop? How can I do this?? How can I get around this? Help! It’s driving me mad!

My laptop is a :
Hp Dv6356EU

Processor Information:
Vendor: AuthenticAMD
Speed: 1809 Mhz
2 logical processors
2 physical processors
HyperThreading: Unsupported
RDTSC: Supported
CMOV: Supported
FCMOV: Supported
SSE: Supported
SSE2: Supported
3DNOW: Supported

RAM: 1024 Mb

Miscellaneous:
Microphone: Not set
Media Type: DVD
Total Hard Disk Space Available: 152625 Mb (SATA)

Thanks

Alex

32 or 64 bit

might try installing the 64 bit version or 32 bit versions to see if one works. are you getting any specific errors?

Please don't mark your threads as URGENT! They are not urgent to any of the volunteers here who will try their best to help you. Marking your threads as urgent will more than likely get you less help from fewer qualified people than if you'd just state your problem as succinctly as possible.

I've tried installing both the 32bit and the 64bit versions but it just wont install... I cant identify the error because it just freezes the installation and it's not after loading a specific it looks like its random if use the cd on 2 other AMD64 pc's that i have at home but they are not dual core they are single core and it works fine so I assume that it is the fact of my laptop having a dual core processor is what is causing the problem... Is there a solution to this????

thanks

Alex

I think the versions that are available are AMD processor specific as the name isAMD64 but I've tried the other version(i386) too and it doesnt work either...

Live CD

Are you installing from the live cd's or are you installing from the command prompt?
