Unhappy "Normal" installation kernel won't boot

Me again ;-)

My dell b120 won't boot from the rescue system, the safe system, or the normal installation system on disc 1 of SuSE linux 10. The only one that works is the "acpi disabled" choice, which is fine except I think that's the reason why acpi won't work on my system.

Tried resetting the BIOS, too.

Anybody else had this experience? Any ideas?

Thanks,
pck

I had simular probs. There is something a bit flakey about the apci on the
Dell B120 however ther is a solution.

I boot the kernel with these options

vga=0x314 selinux=0 pci=noacpi acpi=on resume=/dev/hda7 splash=silent showopts

The pci=noacpi is theimportant one.

Trying to get the screen to switch on after closing the lid is the one I can't
fix

That's incredible! You're officially the most helpful person I have communicated with today.

How did you figure that out?

Change the hda7 to your swap partition
