Hello,
I have an Acer Extensa 5220 laptop with a built in mic, but I can not get it to work nither on Skype nor gnome-sound-recorder
another related sound issues that are not critical that when I plug a headphone in the laptop the sound still comes out from the main speakers so i would have to turn it off from kmixer so the sound would come from the headphones only.
I did not try an external Mic but I will do as soon as I have one available
Have you had a look on kmix to see what the mic levels are at and what mic input is chosen?
Also, you might want to play with pulse audio to see whether that is affecting it. Skype certainly seems to be affected by Pulse in that it makes the sound break up.
Kmix seems confusing although all levels are at the top.
Code:
In the Output tab:
Headphones - PCM - front - Fron Mic Boost - Mic Boost - Digital
In the input tab:
Front Mic Boost - Mic Boost - Capture - Capture - Digital
In the switches:
Input source(Drop Down List)
Mic - Front Mic - Front Line
Input source(Drop Down List)
Mic - Front Mic - Front Line
it may seem that I have written somethings twice but that is the way they are. And I do not know what to choose and what to use.
about configureing pulse I found that I have only 2 pulse packages installed:libpulseaudio0 & libpulsecore3
Have a try disabling Pulse in MCC (Sound Configuration section) and see whether that helps. You need to reboot X before it is disabled.
Are you sure there is such section in MCC? Because I can not find it.
I found a section called "Sound System" in kcontrol, the hardware tab contains options that seems to be useful but I do not understand anything in there.
