Linux on Lenovo IdeaPad U110

Hi everybody. I got a Lenovo U110 over the summer and recently formatted the hard drive and decided to give Linux a try again. After trying Ubuntu 8.04 and Fedora Core 9, I was only able to get Ubuntu to work using vesa drivers (intel driver wouldn't start X), which would be fine if I didn't install Linux for compiz-fusion. This laptop has an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (Rev 03), which apparently has given people problems before. I was just wondering before I go off trying distributions forever if anyone has gotten a Lenovo IdeaPad U110 working with compiz, and if so, with which distribution. Thank you.
Mike

The hack work around for the FC9 is to vi /etc/inittab and set "id:5:initdefault:" to 3.
then add "init 5" to /etc/rc.local.
