I've been contemplating buying a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 for college, and I was wondering if this was worth it for $700. I have an old t41 Thinkpad, but it's falling apart. Should I stick with something in the Thinkpad series or does this look like something that'd be worth buying for someone getting into the IT/IS field?
I upgraded the t41 a while back to a gig of RAM and a 120GB HDD, but the problem is the mounts for the screen are stripped beyond repair. My cousin thought it would be a funny prank to disassemble and scatter parts and turn it into a scavenger hunt for my birthday last year.

Your cousin deserves to have his/her genitalia repeatedly punched until they develop a real sense of what is actually funny.
