Help with serial ports on Toshiba A15

I am using Slackware 9.1 on a Toshiba A15, and my serial ports do not work (or at least the 25-pin one does not work, as I do not have any devices with a different amount of pins, I cannot test them). My printer and zip drive both work with usb but not serial.

My serial ports worked on windows, but not on Mandrake or Slackware. I dont know about other OS's (i.e. FreeBSD, which I am too lazy to test).

can anyone help me configure my serial ports?

What kind of tests have you performed to confirm that your serial port doesn't work?
Configuration of serial ports are done using the setserial command.
To check the setting of first serial port (COM1 in windows) run setserial /dev/ttyS0

yeh, but the problem is that the port isnt configured correctly. the IRQ and IO setserial thinks it has arnet the ones stored in the hardware....
