Unhappy "Help Me" - Problem with internet confic in Ubuntu 10.10


Iam using a HCL Notebook B30 C20 with windows Xp. i just installed ubuntu netbook 10.10 today evening.i know a bit about linux but an expert. The installation took some time but things were fine until i wanted to connect to the internet.
I went to edit connection tab.selected DSL tab [ am using a bsnl broadband with modem ]enter the user name,password etc asusual.
" The problem is:
-Using firefox I can browse google.com (and all its sibling sites, gmail, orkut, etc)
-The google search engine works and shows the results, but the result pages does not open.
-I cannot access yahoo, aol and 99,99% of the other pages that I tried."


i don't getit what i have done worng,the net is working but to only specific pages.

the internet working properly in the windows xp ....
Please helpme this a wired probem people.....

solved the problem

hi guys i solved the problem i had am posting the solution which i found in a form [which i don't remember]


Changing the MTU of the interface to 1492 solved the problem completely.



sudo ifconfig eth1 MTU 1492


After executing the above ,i restarted the system.things were fine
