system freezes, hangs after setting system date

My story is like this- I upgraded kernel to 2.6.23.1. All was fine (approximately 2 days) but then i saw that my system date (date and clock) was set to wrong date and time (i had changed motherboard to new which had wrong date and time). So i used command date to set other system date. Then for about 30-60 minutes all was fine. But then one by one all proccesses started to hang up. And then also my ssh connection went down. And now i wait till tomorrow to get my system restarted. Just wanted to ask - could this be a real reason (changing system date and time) for system crash or could it be some hardware/kernel relating problem and how to fix it?

I wouldn't have thought so, but when you get access can you look through the /var/log/{syslog,messages} files to see if there is any info there?

Ok, i will take a look when i will get access. I only managed to take a screenshot right before my system hanged up. There is some little part of the text it said:

Message from syslogd@localhost at Wed Nov 7 00:10:24 2007 ...

localhost kernel: Oops: 0000 [1] SMP

Message from syslogd@localhost at Wed Nov 7 00:10:24 2007 ...
localhost kernel: CR2: 000000000000005e
