USB CD-RW Drive + Adaptec USB 2.0 not working

Hi guys and gals.

Got a Cendyne CD-RW USB drive and an Adaptec USB 2.0 adapter. It looks like the adapter is working OK, but the drive isn't being recognised. The is the output from dmesg.....

Don't know why my USB card doesn't like this drive.

I've tried just about every BIOS setting I can program. I've got an FIC VA-503+ with K6-2 300mhz, ATI Mach 64 AGP and just about all my ISA and PCI cards yanked out at this point. Don't understand why the bloody thing won't initialize.

What's the next step guys?

Well, maybe it's my Adaptec USB card. /proc/interrupts for IRQ 11 remains zero, and doesn't change. Swapping PCI slots doesn't change that. What next?

Could be due to your onboard USB also being assigned to IRQ 11. Have you tried to disable the onboard USB to see what happens?

Have you also tried disabling plug and pray in the BIOS?

Yes, I did that (disabled plug n pray), as well as disbled the automatic allocation of IRQ's to slots on the motherboard.

What next?
