Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Question TV-out for tnt2 not working under x?

I've been trying to get this setup to work outputting to tv for MythTV, and I really don't know what's going on.

I have a Riva TNT2 Ultra video card from asus, and it has support, as far as I can tell, for both svideo and composite video out. I am trying to get this to work under RedHat 9, with the nvidia closed binaries. When I try and connect both a monitor and a TV, I do not get any video output to the TV (svideo or composite, tried both). I have tried using the TwinView features and other such things in the XFree config file, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I've checked the resolution (800x600 for me) and color depth and sync rates(30-50)/refresh rates(60), and they all seem ok. I've also tried using both nvtv and yanc to get tv-out to work, but nvtv seems just to start loading (I think I can see the window open), then both displays go blank. Yanc grays out the options for tv out (??). Now, when I only connect the tv, I get a display coming up, and the POST, visual (grub) bootloader, and linux bootup sequence are all visible, and look fine. But, as soon as it switches to X, the display flashes wildly a couple of times, then goes blank. The only other situation is I sometimes get an unusual blue display when X loads, with a repeating pattern of randomness across the screen. This happens with certain XF86Config options, I don't exactly remember which ones. Also, I do not think its a problem with the TV, as I can output 800x600 with the refresh and sync rates above from another machine perfectly fine.

Anybody have any ideas what's going on
