Unhappy Tux Racer Runs Slow

I got mandrake 10 loaded which is kind of a big deal for me since since it was the first distro that worked right on the install with my radeon 9800 and nforce2 chipset board, well for the most part. Radeon runs kde pretty speedy, but runs anything 3d (namely TuxRacer) really slow and ugly.

So from there I installed the drivers after a few tries I got them properly loaded. The problem is that KDE runs even faster, but tux racer still runs really slow. I went back and consulted the ati website which led me to see that I may not be using my agp with the agpgart thinger.

So I did the lsmod under root and found that the number next to the agpgart thingy was not >0. Any help will be greatly appreachiated since I am kinda a newb.

Try typing this in the console:
glxinfo
And post the output.

Welcome to LQ holymoo. It may be that you just have not loaded the agpgart module. If you do an lsmod and it does not appear in the list, you can try to manually load it by running (as root)
Code:
insmod agpgart
I can't promise that will solve the problem, but it's definitely something to check. Good luck with it. -- J.W.
