I just installed a Mandrake distro(Mandrake 8.2).After KDE loads up an error message pops up:

Error while initialising the sound driver:
can't set requested sampling rate(requested rate 44100, got rate 24080)

The sound driver will continue, using the null output device.

Can anybody help me out?:-(

note:- my kernel is 2.2.18-6mdk

You didn't install the developmental packages? As root, command:
urpmi gcc
