Sound Blaster Live does not work with Linux

Hello, digiplaya here. My Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live Value card does not play sounds in my Mandrake Linux 9.2 box. It does detect it in the hardware, so I am wondering why it doesn't play any sounds?

Please reply if you know how to fix my problem.

Is your default volume set to 0? See if launching a mixer and setting the volume higher works.

Are you running the sound card using modules, or is support built into your kernel. If you are using modules, are they loaded? (What does 'lsmod' tell you?)

Hussar has a good idea, lsmod will tell you is a driver is loaded. lspci -v wil let you know if it is detected.
if your card is not listed in the lspci -v output you have a 1 a bad contact btween the motherboard and soundcard. 2 IRQ conflict. 3 bad sound card. 4 your sound card is not compatable with your motheboard.
Moving the sound card to a differnt slot may fix problem 1 and 2. A bios flash may be out it fix ploblem 4.
