Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Mandrake sound blaster live problems

Hello, I am currently using mandrake move (and plan on upgrading to hard drive based mandrake 9.2 soon). The sound on windows works fine....but in mandrake its different. While i can still hear music+chimes+other stuff, if i turn the volume up more than 1/4 of the way, a super-loud, deep (mainly from woofer, but if i unplug that, its a high piched buzzing from my smaller speakers) humming comes from my speakers, and if I turn the volume down, it goes away. If i have my volume low, I can listen to music (abit very softly) and other stuff, and all of that works fine.
