Okay, for starters, let me identify myself as one of those users who know enough to be very dangerous.
I was trying to install a Linksys 802.11g card.
Since my RH8 box didn't have the drivers, etc, I tried to do it manually.
In the process, I *SOMEHOW* (cough-fatfingered-cough) managed to delete the alias line from my modules.conf file that refers to my sound card. I've got a Dell Latitude laptop.
I Know during the install, the card is picked up beautifully, and believe it goes to /dev/audio, but I'm not sure on that.
the RH hardware broweser sees the card, but its not got any device hooked to it.
I'm hoping that someone else might have a latitude laptop, and has been through this before, that or someone's got a link to a good site of re-figruing out the modules.conf. I've already visited RH and TLDP's web sites, but cant find anythign that seems to apply
Well, providing the Laptop Model or the type of soundcard would be helpful as there are so many different types of Dell Laptops and soundcards out there, it could be many of the different modules to load your sound card..
