What couses the modules.conf alias need...


I make script/program which updates the modules.conf depends of the loaded modules..
However..If I have two identical lan cards...then they use only one module..
..that makes me unable to determine how many card are attached and which module they use.

I have to detect somehow the lan cards...and determine which module they match

..I'll be gladefull if someone can tell me in which cases the aliases in modules.conf are needed (exactly)
..I hope someone can give idea about that, it's very important !
