Question Fedora Core 3 Graphics Accelerator

Hi,

When trying to run tux racer it runs very slow (0.5 Fps!!!), after browsing around LQ i found it was the graphics accelerator was not turned on, but it did not say how to turn it on!

How do you turn graphics accelerator on?

I am using an NVidia G-Force 2.

Ian

You'll have to install the drivers for your graphics card, these can be found
here:
http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/L...-7174-pkg1.run

run the .run file in a console, and when the drivers are installed

Edit your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file:
It is a good idea to take a copy of xorg.conf before changing anything.
change the line that says Driver "nv" or Driver "vesa"
to Driver "nvidia" .
remove the lines that say Load "dri" and Load "GLcore"
and make sure you have a line that says Load "glx"
Save the file and restart X, now you'll hopefully be able to run 3d-games.
If something goes wrong, just copy back your old xorg.conf.

ATI provides drivers for Linux, check on the ATI website for instructions on how to install it.
