Connecting but not playing through my bluetooth speaker

Hey All,
Running Xubuntu 16.04 on a MacBook, and I'm having trouble with my bluetooth speaker. In the "Bluetooth Devices" menu I can see the device, so I try to connect (audiosink), and get a "device found but failed to connect" kind of message. So a little searching and I found this piece of advice (from http://metricrat.co.uk/xubuntu-bluet...udioheadset/):

Code:
pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover
That returns a number ("18" or "23"), but it seems to do something because then when I try to connect through the gui, it claims success and I even get a little beep from the speaker. However, when I try to play something (tried CDs through Parole and also streaming via Amazon), the track doesn't play. It doesn't "play but no sound comes out", the track literally doesn't advance in time.

In fact, I can switch over to volume control, choose "Built-in Audio Stereo" instead of "SB520" under the Playback tab, and it will immediately start playing through the computer speakers. If I switch back to SB520, the stream stops.

Any thoughts?

Member response

Hi,

Since you do get a response by a beep when Bluetooth is connected then my suspensions would be application setup. Try configuring the application for the device to be used.

If You are a member of the group(s) necessary;

Verify or add your user to the following groups using usermod -aG: pulse, audio, pulse-access, pulse-rt, video: cat /etc/group | grep -e '^pulse:' -e '^audio:' -e '^pulse-access:' -e '^pulse-rt:' -e '^video:' | awk -F: '{print $1}' | tr '\n' ',' | sed 's:,$::g'` `whoami
If you folllow this; http://askubuntu.com/questions/793243/audio-sync-not-working-with-bluetooth-speakers then you might get your device working.
Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!
