Can I make a printer work without a Linux driver?

I just got a Canon Faxphone L75 combination Fax/Printer/Copier that I'm using as a stand-alone fax machine (not connected to my computer). Just for the heck of it I plugged it in via USB to see if I could also use it as a printer. The system detects it immediately, but there's no driver for it.

I knew ahead of time there was no printer driver for it in Linux, but for certain reasons I needed this particular model fax machine. I don't have to use it as a printer, but out of curiosity does anyone know if there's a way to make it work with Linux?

Thanks,

Siri Amrit

Unless it supports Postscript your going to need a a driver for it.

I don't have a clue what Postscript is or how to know if it supports it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PostScript
A standardized printer language, often only supported by better printers.
