Where would I find my kernel sources?

Should the source for my working kernel be found in /usr/src ?

I did apt-get install kernel-source-2.4.22 and it doesn't appear to have worked, although they were no error messages.

Yes, the kernel sources are found in /usr/src

If you used apt-get and it didn't work, why now just download the actual sources from www.kernel.org

hmm, I'd rather know why it didn't work, plus I'm not sure I'd get a matching kernel-source from kernel.org, thanks anyway

well it appears it did work -

if I do
dpkg -L kernel-source-2.4.22

I get
/usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.22.tar.bz2

although I'm fairly certain that file was there before!

what do I do with it so that I can add stuff to the kernel?
