suse linux 9.3

Hello i am haveing deficultys with my computer i wanted to lern some linux and i herd it was realy cool and i am very good with computer so i downloaded it and burned my 5 cd's i installed the first cd and it restarted then it went to load up and nuthing happend the boot loader did not load it was just a blank line so i figured that was the instolation and i loaded up the first cd and picked instolation then i ran booot instalation and that worked so i installed it and then it loaded up works all fine then i restarted it agen and the boot loader still did nothing so i did the repair option on the first linux cd and i got some errors then i fixed them then i ran linux repair agen just to make sure then i got the same errors and the repair did nuthing so i started it up messed arround with it for a bit like withhh
updateing it all sorts of stuff and still did nuthing by the way after i did the repair thing i started it up and it saved nuthing like the internet set up i went to start the internet and said could not find internet so i configured that it work everything that had to do with configuring stuff like the sound internet bunch of stuff just reset each time i went to install it so i donno what to do i am lost with no thots in my head (by the way befor i did this all i red sus linux bibal and it alll looked esay) and it was but it dident go all to plan so i am crying out for help i no nuthing about linux i have never used it but i understand computer i no what command is and all that and what linux is based on and all that but yah i am crying out for help and wanted to no if any one was genorise enuf to help me here

also i have windows on my computer with lots of files that i need so if no one no's or has any ideas how to fix it if some one could help me with geting back windows boot back on my computer

How do you connect to the Internet?

i have dls (cabel inter net i use a router to split my connection and i have a seting on my router that lets all ports open for one computer witch is the one i am useing but i dont think that has anything to do with my problem lol no afence or anythign )

my guess is its my cd's that i used also i donno thats just a guess would any one no of a speshal repair kit that could fit all of this that isent the one i alredy have even tho if its the disks thats y the repair isent working but yahs ekk i am very frustrated with this bin messing around and trying to fix it for a day but yah plzz help

Setting up Linux and Windows

Preferably, setup windows on 1 disk and Linux on a 2nd.. that way you never need to be worried to lose your windows stuff

If.. for any reason.. you need to get rid of linux and it's booter... pop a windows setup cd (an old one!!) and run "fdisk /mbr" from the dos prompt. I have Windows XP and use a DOS6 disk for it
linux booter will be gone and windows starts up again automaticely as before.

For your problems... it sounds confusing, but I think that I've had that happen too once or twice.
Setup goes well, but with the reboot you only get to console level... the only thing I ever did about it was (again) a setup.

yah sry about the crappy tital thanx for the help i also set it up on a difrent disk i have 8 disks on my computer i have a 75 gig and a 200 gig i got windows on one and linux on the other thanx for the help on the boot disk yah i think i am going to get ride of loader and just trash linux and download some new cd's becuse i think they got corrupted when i downloaded them becuse i had a hard time with downloader geting them to finish but yah thanx for the helppp apresheate it and i wasent asking for some one to complain about my post thanx you i looked for some linux help thats all if you have a problem with it talk to the forum master guy i realy dont give a shit if you wanna wine and not help i read this to be a help web site considering the tital linuxquestions.org and way thanxguy for the help

hrm- you know what you can do to get people to answer you? It is called the spell check button- and you must have seen it because it is right next to the submit button.

And I wouldn't call the mod an ************ because he's the guy who has some power around here. Better titles mean better answers.

Ok- what you need to do is install the linux (sounds like you've done this- good) and make sure the boot loader is working (google for grub manual and lilo howto)
Now, you need to find the setup for the internet. (remember the mantra: Small change, save, check. Small change, save, check. (etc etc)
Look for the configuration tools. run through them.

hey man thanx it worked but i still got no windows xp pro loader lol so now its says missing oporateing system :S lol go any ideas lol
