Error Turning off swap!

Recently, I often have problem when shutting down my Linux machine. It display the message : Turning off swap. And it stop there for so long, seems that it will never shutdown.
What is the problem with my machine? Can you help me?
I use Red Hat Advance Server 3.0

A, and another problem: that is each time I turn off my computer in Linux, the system time is always wrong the next time it starts. I really do not know what is the problem? ( I use Norton Ghost to install Linux).

(1) Maybe you could try running swapoff by hand and see if there are any more enlightening error messages.

(2) Did you set Linux to assume that the system clock is running on GMT when it's not (or vice versa)? That can cause time screw-ups like you describe. Does /etc/localtime point to the correct time zone data file?
