swap partition error


booting suse 9.1 personal edition i got a failure enabling the swap memory . In /etc/fstab
i can see
/dev/hda3 swap swap pri=42 0 0

and also under Yast Partitioning panel there is an entry of this partition . Ive'got 512 mb memory

how can i enable the swap memory ?

Perhaps you should format it again. Just run:
mkswap /dev/hda3

Then see if you can swapon
