Compilation

Hi all,
After compiling the kernel in the sequence,
make oldconfig,make
I rebooted with the new kernel,

It is showing error as
"scsi_mod:disagrees abt the version of symbol struct module
error inserting scsi_mod.ko -1 Invalid module format"

and some more modules like libata.ko,sd_mod.ko.

Can u say me what's the problem(module insertion problem)?

Regards,
Arunachalam.

Hi,
This seems like a classic problem:
You didn't:
Code:
make modules_install
Don't forget to remove the previous build with
Code:
rm -rf /lib/modules/[the version of your kernel]
Even when you don't change of kernel version, you often need to rebuild the modules too.
Try it.

Hi,
Even when I do that I am getting the same error. The steps I did was,
"make oldconfig
make
make modules
make modules_install
reboot to the new image"

Error is "error loading modules scsi_mod.ko -1 Invalid module format.

Regds,
Arunachalam.

Check if there are some other errors before the message.
Sorry, that's all I have to say: I made a quick search but I found nothing concerning your problem...
