I quit gaming, due to lack of time, however Supertuxkart is a great app. And while flightgear is not really (IMO) a game, it can be fun, especially with the airports' in a real location. Kind of nice being able to fly out of local airports.
I find myself playing Cuyo a lot. Also Zaz, AisleRiot, picmi, Sudoku, KMines, SameGame, and BreakOut. Although IFrac was a port of Frac to Windows, it has much better resolution than the Linux version. I would like to see a better version of Frac for Linux.
Factorio (Well worth $20. Hell, it'll be worth $30.)
Civ V (You can pick this up, complete, on Steam sales. I replace the theme song with Civ IV's song because it's cooler. Baba Yetu > all.)
Anything by Arcen Games (AI War, Last Federation, Skyward Collapse, Bionic Dues, et al. I'm not a fan of Tidalis.)
7 Days to Die (Still in development, so don't get too attached to your world.)
Slime Rancher (cute, not violent. Nice if you're tired of the news cycle. It's dopewars, but with slime poop.)
Borderlands 2
Terraria
Starbound (I really dig this one. People complain that there isn't as much content as Terraria, but it has more than Terraria did before it took the long development break that birthed Starbound.)
XCOM (Haven't played XCOM 2 yet.)
I like FreedroidRPG, have for years (decades ?), and have contributed a few translations. It takes me, experienced gamer in this game, quite a few hours to finish it and I still enjoy it, every time.
It has even gotten better over the last few years, imho.
Supertux is great for the kids, supertuxkart is great also ... then you have all the steam games, some of which are really neat, however, I have a wife, 5 kids, and a demanding job ...
For young kids, tuxpaint is a must!!!! My girls LOVED IT! I would download coloring images (for parents to print out so kids can color them with pens), converted them to transparent png with gimp, and feed them to tuxpaint (sometimes I had to close some areas, tuxpaint has a bucket tools to fill a "closed" area) That makes me think, I need to feed some $$ to *tux* and FreedroidRPG games ...
