sometimes my mouse freezes...like just a second ago when i was testing it, it froze up and i couldnt aim. i quit out iwth the console and even then, my mouse didnt work. and it has happened in the past when i was just running gnome.
1)optical-logitech-s/n lna22511241
2)USB
3)i have sound in every single other program i have ever run. the only real exception is that when XMMS is playing sound NOTHING else can. and when anything else is, xmms cant run.
Reboot your machine and see if there's an option in BIOS for 'legacy USB support'. If that option's there, switch it off.
As for the sound problem, see if there's a program called 'artsd' running. If it is, do 'killall -9 artsd', close the browser, then see if Flash has sound.
sorry for the double post.....i got ut2k4 mouse working....
took me like 7 tries cause there were 2 usb options i could play with and one of the 2 had 3 options...so thats all of 7 possibilities....guess i tried one of them more than once....now im off to figure out this flash thing.
edit:this is the part where i say
"what the hell?!?!?!?"
when i fixed the mouse, it appears that i reconfigured my audio too and now everything running all....good like....

i didnt see either....its possible that it was the videos that were off...but i dont think i saw a single one that was on and i remember some of these being correct.....
Try this video: http://www.xiaoxiaomovie.com/movie/movie03.htm
(It may take a while to load, the server's a bit slow today)
There's a *very* slight delay on my machine (it's the same on Windows, though), but nowhere near a second.
The previous version of Flash had a delay similar to what you're describing, so I think you might have an old version.
watch this and tell me if you see delay...this is one of my favorite flashes of all time and i get it horrible(the one you did show did have delay...i also have so stop xmms, close ALL firefox windows, and then start them before any movies have sound.
great movie. i love it, but its got HORRIBLE delay. watch that and tell me what you see. if you get it to, then we are set. just as a reference point, there is a part where he climbs down in the tree(near the begining). i hear him climb down about the time he is leaving. well...tell me when you watch it and ill tell you what its like...dont want to ruin another spot
