Unreal Tournament 2004 troubles on NVIDIA GeForce MX 4000

First I want to say that UT2K4 DOES run on mandrake. The problem is with my AGP module. When I use the AGPGART module, UT2K4 runs with no lag but system is really unstable and crash after about 2 or 3 minutes of playing, or even in the menu. When I use nvagp module coming with the nVidia driver, my system is stable but UT2K4 lags even with graphics at lowest.

Please note that I'm using kernel 2.6.3-7mdk from MDK 10.0 on MDK 10.1 because I've not been able to install NVIDIA driver on the 10.1 kernel (2.6.8.1-10mdk) after the upgrade.

Please help me to get UT2K4 to run as unreal tournament is my favorite game.

Thanks

I noticed that I was NOT able to load the nvidia agp driver at all.

cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status give me

Status: Disabled

AGP initialization failed, please check the ouput
of the 'dmesg' command and/or your system log file
for additional information on this problem.

and when I lsmod agpgart is loaded but I told my machine to use the nvidia agp module

Please help I've been searching for a solution for the last 2 weeks

(Note that I CAN'T use agpgart since my chipset isn't supported by it)

Thanks

Agpgart is generally a bit more unstable than nvagp. Try using Agpgart, but reducing the AGP setting to something like 2X.

Have you tried:

Option "NvAGP" "2"

In your xorg.conf Device section?

Yup. I tried NvAGP 0, 1, 2, and 3. The only one that works without crashing is 0 - Disable AGP... but without AGP the game runs very laggy. With AGPGART the system completly freeze within 5 minutes and with nVidia-AGP the game go back to desktop after approx 1 minute. I've read that my motherboard doesn't support AGP on linux, so I'll buy a new motherboard soon. Hope it will fix the problem. I'll post my feedback of the new motherboard as soon as I buy it.

Thanks for helping!
